Antique Pair of Dresden Hand-Painted Porcelain Figural Lamps

Description

A beautiful and highly decorative pair of antique Dresden porcelain lamps, richly embellished with hand-applied porcelain flowers, scrolling foliage and charming winged cherub figures.

Each lamp features a softly colored porcelain body in delicate shades of pink, blue, yellow, green and white, with an abundance of individually modeled blossoms surrounding the upper and lower sections. The sculptural cherubs add wonderful movement and character, while the shaped bases give the pair an especially refined appearance.

Dresden porcelain became internationally celebrated during the 19th and early 20th centuries for its intricate hand-painted decoration, applied flowers and romantic figural subjects. Pieces in this tradition remain particularly desirable for their extraordinary decorative detail and craftsmanship, and this stunning pair would be striking on bedside tables, a console, buffet or pair of side tables.
