Description
A striking original color plate featuring one of Henri Matisse’s most recognizable late compositions, Blue Nude III.
A seated female figure is distilled into sweeping blue shapes against a pale ground. Narrow passages of negative space define the folded limbs and curved torso, giving the composition remarkable movement and sculptural presence.
The original belongs to Matisse’s celebrated Blue Nudes of 1952, created using painted paper cut and arranged into carefully balanced forms. Its apparent simplicity conceals an extraordinary understanding of the human figure, proportion and rhythm.
Custom framed in a substantial silver and champagne toned surround with broad black matting. An exceptional accent for a bedroom, study or contemporary gallery wall.
About the Artist: Henri Matisse (1869 to 1954) was one of modern art’s greatest masters of color. A leading figure in Fauvism, he challenged convention with bold palettes and expressive forms. Late in life, his inventive paper cut-outs opened another influential chapter in his career. His work is represented in prestigious collections including New York’s Museum of Modern Art and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
