Pair of French Demi-Lune Console Tables with Inset Marble

Description

A particularly decorative pair of French demi-lune console tables combining richly carved woodwork with inset green marble.

Each half-moon top sits above a patterned frieze embellished with floral details and classical ornament. Carved garlands sweep between the supports, while slender fluted legs lend the tables a light, architectural appearance.

Matching marble inserts enrich the lower shelves, repeating the color and veining of the tops. Warm gold-toned edging provides a subtle contrast to the deep wood finish.

The balanced symmetry, fluted supports and festoon decoration draw on the French Louis XVI neoclassical tradition. The demi-lune form, meaning “half-moon,” offers an attractive curved front with a straight back for placement against a wall.

Beautiful as a pair beneath coordinating mirrors, flanking a doorway or positioned on opposite walls. Their modest depth makes them particularly useful in an entrance or hallway.
