Old World Carved Storage Chest on Stand

Description

This Old World carved storage chest on stand from Nepal features an intricately decorated front, dark brown tones and worn gold toned detailing. Repeated rectangular panels, patterned borders and metal hardware create a richly layered appearance, balanced by the simpler wood top and supporting stand.

The hinged lid opens to reveal an enclosed storage compartment, while the open lower shelf provides additional space for display. Combining decorative presence with useful storage, this chest would make a striking addition to an entrance hall, living room or dining room.

Style and Historical Reference

Nepal has a longstanding woodcarving tradition, particularly associated with the Kathmandu Valley architectural heritage, where carved timber enriches windows, doorways and other architectural features. The chest’s patterned façade visually echoes that broader decorative heritage within our Rancho Santa Fe antique and Old World furniture collection.
