Description

A bold pair of hand painted yellow Chinese dragon vases in fine porcelain with vivid yellow grounds and richly contrasting dragon decoration. Long necks rise above rounded bodies, with patterned floral borders framing dragons moving among stylised clouds. Deep blue wave medallions anchor the composition.

The design draws on the visual language of Chinese imperial porcelain decoration, in which dragons represent power and authority. Here, the strong yellow, blue and iron red palette gives the traditional imagery a particularly assertive presence.

Their complementary decoration rewards close inspection, while their balanced proportions make them effective displayed together on a console, mantel or library cabinet from our Rancho Santa Fe porcelain gallery.
