Pair of Royal Vienna Style Custom Framed Porcelain Portrait Plates

Description

A decorative pair of Austrian Royal Vienna style framed porcelain portrait plates, each depicting an idealized young woman within a richly patterned border. One portrait features flowing dark hair, the other pale golden hair, creating an appealing contrast across the coordinated pair.

Burgundy, warm gold and green accents surround the portraits, interspersed with delicate floral reserves. Each plate is presented against a dark backing within a substantial gold toned frame ornamented with scrolling foliage, transforming the porcelain into a distinctive wall display.

Portrait porcelain reflects the European tradition of treating ceramics as miniature works of art, intended for admiration in cabinets and interiors. Here, the custom framing gives that collecting tradition a particularly effective presentation.

A romantic addition to a bedroom, study or sitting room from our Rancho Santa Fe decorative collection, bringing warmth, personality and an alternative to conventional framed pictures. Display together for symmetry or on either side of a doorway or cabinet.
