A beautiful Antique French Louis XV-style commode, distinguished by its elegant bombe form, finely figured marquetry and extensive gilt-bronze ormolu mounts. The gently curved façade is fitted with three spacious drawers, each decorated with geometric parquetry and handsome scrolling gilt-bronze handles and escutcheons.

Handsome ormolu mounts running down the corners, incorporating classical female masks and scrolling foliate decoration, together with additional gilt-bronze detailing along the apron and feet. The commode is crowned by a substantial shaped rouge marble top, richly veined in tones of deep red, burgundy, white and grey.

The combination of warm marquetry, sculptural ormolu and dramatic marble gives this piece the opulent character associated with fine French furniture. An impressive yet highly usable antique, ideal in an entrance hall, living room, dining room or bedroom.
