French Oval Vitrine (Display Case) with Decorative Mounts

Description

A handsome oval display vitrine distinguished by curved glazing, richly figured wood and elaborate gold toned metal ornament.

A molded cornice crowns the cabinet above a decorative band of ribbon tied swags. The glazed front door and curved side panels provide views into the display area, where glass shelves and a mirrored back create a bright setting for porcelain, small sculptures or collectible objects.

Two drawers below offer enclosed storage, finished with scrolling handles. Additional ornamental mounts accent the corners, lower apron and shaped feet.

The design draws on the French tradition of the vitrine, a glazed cabinet intended to present treasured objects while protecting them from everyday handling. Its rounded form gives this example an especially graceful presence.

A distinctive piece for a living room, dining room, bedroom or collector’s study.
